The dispute over the road regarding immersion of the idol of Maa Durga in Madgadi of Bhandaria block of Garhwa district under Palamu division ended after 30 hours. The atmosphere remained tense till late Sunday evening after the lathi charge by the police, the incident of stone pelting by the angry mob, the injury of ASP Rahul Dev Badaik and the release of tear gas as well as the aerial firing incident.
Meanwhile, at around 8 pm in the evening, Garhwa Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Jamuar, SP Deepak Kumar Pandey, Ranka SDM Rudra Pratap, Daltonganj MLA Alok Kumar Chaurasia, First Deputy Mayor of Medininagar Rakesh Kumar Singh alias Mangal Singh and other senior officials reached the puja pandal of Madgadi village, where Talks took place between the puja committee and representatives of the particular community.
During this, both the parties agreed to immerse the statue from the disputed road. After the consent, a city tour of the idol of Maa Durga was conducted on the disputed route along with DC, SP and policemen. Where the idol of Mata Rani was immersed in the Kanhar river at 1 o'clock in the night.
Let us tell you that at around 3 pm on Saturday afternoon, there was a clash between the villagers and the police regarding the immersion of the idol on the disputed road, after which the police, in addition to lathi charge, fired tear gas shells. There was talk of firing by the same villagers. ASP Rahul Dev Badaik, Ranka DSP Rohit Ranjan and many men and women were injured. 25 year old Udit Gupta was injured in the incident. At the same time, both the legs of 40 year old Sanjay Gupta were broken by the administration's baton. Both the injured are being treated in the hospital of Ramanujganj, Chhattisgarh. Many more people are also said to be injured in the incident.
Let us tell you that the atmosphere remained tense throughout Dussehra regarding the immersion of the idol on the disputed road. When there was no solution from both communities four times in the police station, the administration had imposed prohibition on the disputed road.
What is the reason for the dispute?
Actually, there is a dispute over the road regarding immersion of Durga Puja idol in Madgadi village of Bhandaria police station area for the last few years. The villagers say that the pond in which they want to immerse the statue. The road leading to it goes through the house of Brijeshwar Sahu. However, three houses in this route belong to people of another community, who refuse to give way for the immersion of the idol. To resolve this dispute, an agreement was reached in the Peace Committee meeting this year, but after a few days one party refused to accept this agreement, due to which a tense atmosphere was created during Durga Puja itself.
When the issue of idol immersion came to light on Sunday, the villagers started demanding immersion of the idol from the disputed site itself, but the administration did not allow immersion through this route. Angered by this, the villagers refused to immerse the idol. Meanwhile, when the sub-divisional officer reached the puja pandal at 3.45 pm, the villagers started raising slogans against him.
