Lucknow, 14 September (HS). There is now a possibility of a ban on reckless recovery by builders in single point connections. The Electricity Regulatory Commission has now abolished the single point connection system with a penalty of Rs 5000 for the first mistake, Rs 10000 for the second mistake and Rs 15000 for the third mistake. This time, strict noose has been tightened on the builders in the electricity rates issued by the Electricity Regulatory Commission, for which the Consumer Council was struggling for a long time and had raised this issue in every hearing. Still, on a large scale in entire Uttar Pradesh, some builders are taking care of the arrangements themselves by taking single point connection. At some places, a franchise-like Residential Welfare Committee has been formed and the electricity rate fixed at Rs 110 and energy charge at Rs 7 per unit has been fixed by the Electricity Regulatory Commission. They collect more than that and do not even give any bill to the consumers but now this will not happen.

It will have to be entered and at the same time the builder or the franchisee who is formed in the form of a housing society will also have to enter his mandatory audit account which has complete accounts. Failure to do so will result in a penalty of Rs 5,000 for the first mistake, Rs 10,000 for the second mistake and Rs 15,000 for the third mistake, along with taking away the rights of the single point connection and converting it into a multi-point system.
