Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister of Pakistan's Punjab Province to Ramesh Singh Arora Has been included in the cabinet. In the recently held assembly elections, Arora was elected MLA for the third time from Narowal district. He is the first minister from the minority Sikh community of Pakistan. Maryam Nawaz is the daughter of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif.
For the first time since 1947, a person from Punjab province has been appointed to the cabinet.
Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, 48, said, 'For the first time after the partition of 1947, a Sikh person has been included in the cabinet of Punjab province. Apart from Sikhs, I will work for the security of all minorities including Hindus, Christians living in Pakistan.
Who is Ramesh Singh Arora?
Ramesh Singh Arora was born on 11 October 1974 in Nankana Sahib city. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship and SME Management from Government College University, Lahore. Before entering politics he contributed to the World Bank's poverty alleviation program in Pakistan. He founded the Mojas Foundation in 2008 to help the underprivileged in Pakistan. Recently assembly elections were held in Pakistan, in which Arora has been elected MLA from his native district Narowal. He was appointed ambassador of the Kartarpur Corridor last year.
Didn't go to India because of friendship
He said, 'During the partition of 1947, my family chose to live in Pakistan instead of India. I was born in Nankana Sahib, but then we moved to Narowal. My grandfather chose to live in Pakistan at the time of Partition on the advice of a Muslim friend. My family decided to stay there only for friendship.
