Churaibari (Tripura), 10 March (HIST). Three people from Assam have been arrested in Bagbasa, North Tripura along with banned drug Yaba tablets worth Rs 5 crore. The arrested people have been identified as Abdul Matab, Janab Ali, residents of Ranibari village in South Assam's Karimganj district, and Burhan Uddin of Ratabari.
North Tripura District Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty said that based on a tip-off, the Bagbasa police station stopped an unmarked Bolero vehicle and searched it. 55 thousand Yaba tablets were recovered from three people traveling in the vehicle. After this, the police arrested the three caught with the vehicle and brought them to the police station and started interrogation.
The Superintendent of Police said that the intoxicating pills were brought to Tripura by crossing the Assam-Mizoram interstate border. He told that the bullets were purchased from Myanmar. Superintendent of Police Chakraborty said that a case has been registered against the three arrested by the police at Bagbasa police station under the specific section of the NDPS Act.
