After PM Suryodaya Yojana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced PM Surya Ghar Free Scheme, in which people will get free electricity up to 300 units. Regarding this scheme, PM Modi has tweeted and told how people will benefit and panels will be installed on the roof. There is now confusion among people regarding the difference between Surya Ghar Yojana and PM Suryoday Yojana. Let us know about it.
The PM Suryodaya Yojana was announced right after the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. PM Modi shared that rooftop solar panels will be installed for poor and middle class families, which will benefit approximately one crore families and reduce electricity bills for poor families.
While sharing information about PM Suryoday Yojana in the budget speech, the Finance Minister said that under this scheme, houses installing solar panels on their rooftop will get up to 300 units of free electricity. Additionally, he also highlighted the benefits of these rooftop solar panels.
Now regarding PM Surya Ghar Yojana, PM Modi has emphasized that about Rs 75,000 crore will be invested in providing up to 300 units of free electricity to one crore houses. It aims to light one crore homes and ensure that the cost of solar panels does not become a burden on people. The objective of the scheme is to popularize solar panels at the grassroots level and encourage urban local bodies and panchayats to promote solar panels on rooftops. This initiative is expected to increase income, reduce electricity bills and generate employment.
