Revocation of Article 370 ensured empowerment of refugees: Slathiya

Jammu, March 10 (HS). Addressing a meeting organized by the BJP refugee cell at village Hariyapur in Kathua district, former minister and BJP state vice president Surjit Singh Salathia said the entire scenario has changed after the abrogation of Article 370, leading to various central schemes for refugees. Slathiya said the BJP has always stood strongly with the plight of these refugees and advocated for their due recognition and empowerment. He said refugees have faced countless hardships and injustices for decades. Despite their significant contribution to the cultural and socio-economic fabric of the nation in general and Jammu and Kashmir in particular, they continued to struggle for basic rights including citizenship, land ownership and access to essential services.

Slathiya said that due to concerted efforts, the BJP secured justice and respect for these deserving citizens, ensuring that they are provided equal opportunities and protection under the law. Furthermore, the BJP remains steadfast in its resolve to provide comprehensive support and assistance to the refugees from West Pakistan, including access to education, health care, housing and employment opportunities.
