Tomato Chutney Recipe: Tomato chutney not only enhances the taste of food but is also rich in nutrients. It can be prepared in minutes. Methani chutney is an important part of Indian cuisine. It can be prepared and eaten in any season. It also provides adequate nutrition to the body. So know the easy recipe to make it.

Ingredients to make Tomato Sauce

  • 5-6 tomatoes (medium sized)
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 1 onion (medium size)
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Red chilli powder as per taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic
  • salt to taste
  • 1 inch piece of ginger
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • some curry leaves
  • a pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 teaspoon jaggery (optional)
  • Finely chopped coriander (for garnish)

How to make tomato chutney

  • Wash tomato, onion, green chilli, garlic and ginger and chop finely.
  • – Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds in it.
  • When they start crackling, add asafoetida and curry leaves.
  • – Now add chopped onion to it and fry it until it turns golden.
  • When the onion turns golden, add chopped garlic and ginger to it and fry for a few seconds.
  • – Now add coriander powder, turmeric powder and red chilli powder and mix well.
  • – Add chopped tomatoes and green chillies and cook.
  • – Cook until tomatoes become soft.
  • – Let the cooked mixture cool and then grind it in the mixer.
  • You can also add some water to it.
  • Return the grated chutney to the pan.
  • If you like sweet chutney then add jaggery and mix well.
  • Add salt as per taste.
  • – Turn off the gas and garnish with finely chopped green coriander.
