Scams that happened during Congress tenure should be answered, then worry about BJP government: Food Minister

Raipur, 12 October (HS). Food Minister Dayal Das Baghel, while discussing with journalists on Saturday, took aim at the statement of the Leader of Opposition and said that during the five-year tenure of the Congress government, there were paddy scams worth more than Rs 1200 crore. Leader of Opposition Dr. Charan Das Mahant should first answer the public about that scam.

It is noteworthy that Leader of Opposition Dr. Charan Das Mahant has accused the BJP government of the state of a paddy scam worth Rs 1000 crore. Food Minister Dayal Das Baghel said in a discussion with the media that Leader of Opposition Dr. Mahant should first answer the scams that took place during the Congress tenure and then worry about our government. He termed the scam as wrong and said that the paddy stored in the collection center is being termed as a scam.

Regarding the dates of paddy procurement at support price, the Food Minister said that paddy procurement was discussed in the cabinet sub-committee meeting. The final decision on whether paddy procurement should be started on November 15 or December 1 will be taken in the cabinet. Regarding the complaint of ration scam, Dayal Das said that wherever such complaint of irregularities is received, strict action will be taken against it. FIR has also been lodged in this matter.
