Education in Gujarat: When Narendra Modi took oath as the 14th Chief Minister of Gujarat 23 years ago, the level of education in Gujarat was very low. Also, Modi ji pledged that he will make every possible effort to improve the condition of the education sector in Gujarat and make education easy and accessible for the marginalized sections of the state.

To realize this resolve, he determinedly launched several initiatives and schemes in the field of education and made intensive efforts to expand the scope of education in the state. In 2003, then Chief Minister Narendra Modi started the School Pravesh Utsav and Kanya Kelavani Rath Yatra programs to promote primary education in the state and increase student enrollment in schools. Recently, the 21st school entrance festival was organized under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

Today we can see the positive results of the penance done by Narendra Modi in the education sector 23 years ago. Today, due to the efforts of Narendra Modi, colleges and universities providing higher and technical education have been established in Gujarat itself. 23 years ago there were only 21 universities in the state whereas today 108 universities are functioning, providing higher education opportunities to the students at their doorstep.

Gujarat has today become a hub of sector specific universities. Government schools of the state have also become smart and digital today. Students who used to learn on blackboard two decades ago are now using interactive smart classes with smart boards with the help of technology. The credit for these achievements in the education sector is given to the efficient leadership of the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi. Narendra Modi has always emphasized on the importance of education.

When he took power in Gujarat 23 years ago, the condition of education was very bad. In 2003, Narendra Modi started the School Entrance Utsav and Kanya Kelavani Rath Yatra program to improve the primary education sector and enroll more students in school. The positive result of this program is that today lakhs of children of the state are getting admission in schools through the School Entrance Festival programme. Recently, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the 21st School Entrance Festival was successfully organized in the state, through which about 16 lakh children got admission in primary education.

Apart from the school entrance festival, Modiji implemented various educational schemes like Gunotsav, Mid Day Meal Scheme, Vidyadeep Scheme etc. to promote primary education. As a result of various initiatives and schemes implemented in the education sector, the school dropout rate from classes 1 to 8 in the state was 37.22 percent in the year 2002, which has reduced significantly today. Under the Gyan Kunj project, with the help of technology, interactive smart classrooms with smart boards have been created in the classrooms of government primary schools of Gujarat.
