New Delhi, 12 October (Hindustan Reporter). With the beginning of the festive season, the dry fruit market has also started getting decorated in the country. From Dhanteras to Diwali and then during the wedding season, dry fruits are purchased extensively. Along with this, as people's awareness towards health has increased, their eating style has also changed and dry fruits have firmly established their place in the diet.

According to market experts, there has been a 25 percent increase in the consumption of dry fruits in India in the last 5 years. Especially for the last two years, the dry fruits market in the country has been growing at the rate of 8 percent annually. Due to health awareness and increase in people's income, the demand for dry fruits has also increased.

According to market experts, to meet the domestic requirement of dry fruits in the country, one has to depend on imports from the international market. India is currently the world's largest dry fruit importer. India's share in global imports is 11.2 percent. At present, India imports maximum dry fruits from America. India had spent $2.85 billion globally to import dry fruits in 2023-24. This situation is also there when India itself produces dry fruits like cashew nuts and raisins in large quantities. Along with this, walnuts and almonds are also produced in some parts of the country.

Cashew has the largest share in the import of dry fruits. Cashew accounts for about 50 percent of the country's total dry fruit imports. In 2023-24, the total cashew business in the country, including cashews produced in India and imported cashews, was estimated to be $ 2.40 billion. It is estimated that by the end of the current financial year, the total business of cashew in the country will be $ 2.90 billion. Will reach to.

According to dry fruits importer Surendra Aggarwal, cashew nuts are in highest demand among dry fruits. In terms of demand, the share of cashew in total dry fruits is about 40 percent. Due to the highest demand, the price of cashew has increased by 45 to 50 percent in the last one year. Especially during the festival season, the demand for dry fruits has increased further. In such a situation, there is every possibility of increase in the prices of cashew nuts, almonds, walnuts and pistachios till Diwali. Along with this, the demand for long variety of raisins is also likely to increase. Therefore, this variety of raisins can also be comparatively expensive. However, there is no possibility of much increase in the demand for round variety of raisins.
