Registration on PM Internship Scheme portal from today, 90,849 employment opportunities available

New Delhi, 12 October (HIST). To do internship under the Prime Minister Internship Scheme, youth will be able to register on the portal https://pminternship.mca.gov.in/login/ from 5 pm on Saturday (today). So far, 193 companies have offered 90,849 internship opportunities on this portal. These youth will be provided internship opportunities in 24 fields.

Official sources associated with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs said that till Friday evening, 193 companies have registered themselves on the portal for 90,849 internship posts. The central government aims to bring 1.25 lakh candidates under the ambit of the scheme in the financial year. But, many companies being a part of it have not yet posted jobs here. Internship opportunities for youth are currently available on this portal in more than 20 areas including operations management, production and manufacturing, maintenance, sales and marketing.

According to the information, among the companies providing opportunities under the PM Internship Scheme, 193 major companies like Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, Eicher Motor, Larsen & Toubro Limited, Muthoot Finance and Reliance Industries have kept the details of internship opportunities. Through this portal, internships in 24 sectors will be made available to eligible candidates. Among these, maximum opportunities are in the oil, gas and energy sector, followed by travel and hospitality, automobile and banking and financial services.

Internship opportunities will be available in a total of 737 districts including 37 states and union territories in the country. This scheme was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2024-25. The government aims to provide internship to one crore candidates aged 21-24 years within five years, so that they become employable. Under this scheme, the candidates doing internship will get monthly financial assistance of Rs 5,000 for 12 months and a lump sum grant of Rs 6,000.

It is noteworthy that the Central Government had launched this portal on October 3 to provide information about internship opportunities. The internship program under the pilot project will start from December 2. Around 1.25 lakh candidates are expected to be brought under the ambit of this scheme by the end of the current financial year 2024-25.
