Durgashtami celebrated in Shimla, temples echoed with the praises of Mother Goddess

Shimla, 10 October (Hindustan Reporter). Navratri is celebrated in the capital Shimla. The festival of Durga Ashtami is being celebrated with great pomp on Thursday, the eighth day of Shardiya Navratri. Mahagauri, the eighth form of Goddess Durga, is being worshipped. The power of this form of Mother is infallible and fruitful and by worshiping her, all the troubles of the devotees go away.

Devotees have been paying obeisance since morning in other religious places including the famous Shaktipeeths located in the state. On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, the atmosphere is devotional with bhajans and kirtans in all the Shaktipeeths and other temples and apart from religious programs, Bhandara is also being organised.

Along with bowing their heads in the temples of Maa Durga, the devotees prepared prasad while worshiping the goddess at home and served food to the girls while worshiping them. Shimla's historical Taradevi, Kalibari, Kamna Devi, Dhingu Mata temples are crowded with devotees since morning.

On the occasion of Durga Ashtami, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla along with his family also took the blessings of Mother Goddess and offered prayers at the historic Kalibari temple in the capital Shimla on the occasion of Ashtami. On this occasion, the Governor said that Navratri is a festival of enthusiasm for all people. People worship the Mother Goddess for nine days and pray for the happiness and peace of their families. On this occasion, the Governor prayed to the Mother Goddess for prosperity, happiness, peace and progress of all the people of the state.
