Dhaka: Chief Advisor to the interim government of Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus said, 'Dhaka-Delhi relations should remain close. Let us forget the recent incidents and build closer relations again which is in the interest of both the countries. He further said, 'Relations between the two countries should remain very close, because there is no other option. This is necessary in every aspect, be it economy, security or water distribution.
Mohammad Yunus said this in an interview given to Bengali language daily Pratham Pratham Chalo on Tuesday. During the interview, when journalists asked about the recent increase in tension between the two countries, he said, “Some recent incidents may have ‘disappointed’ India. “They will be upset by some of the changes (here).” However, 'Why the change?' Mohammad Yunus did not say anything about this, but he said, 'It is difficult for us to move forward without supporting each other and it is also natural that the relations were close. This is also an ancient situation.
On one hand, China wants to establish its influence in the Indian Ocean, hence it has occupied Sri Lanka. Then India's friendship with Maldives and Bangladesh is inevitable.
While China is trying to deploy the research vessel Nangri to Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean, friendship with India, Maldives and Bangladesh is indispensable for India.
