Mumbai, 09 October (HS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched projects worth Rs 7600 crore in Maharashtra. He inaugurated 10 medical colleges through video conferencing. On this occasion, the Prime Minister sarcastically said that in earlier governments, corruption used to happen only at a rapid pace, but now development has gained momentum.
The colleges inaugurated today by the Prime Minister include 10 new medical colleges in Mumbai, Nashik, Jalna, Buldhana, Hingoli, Washim, Amravati, Bhandara, Gadchiroli and Ambernath (Thane). 900 seats of MBBS course are being increased for students in these colleges. A total of 4850 MBBS seats are available every year in 35 colleges of the state. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of two important infrastructure projects: modernization and expansion of Nagpur Airport and construction of a terminal building for Shirdi Airport.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister said that at present Maharashtra is moving rapidly on the path of development. Congratulating the people of the state for these development works, Modi said that a few days ago also I got the opportunity to launch development projects in Maharashtra. Last week, I got a chance to start a project worth Rs 30 thousand here. Projects worth thousands of crores have been started in many districts of the state. Metro and airports are being upgraded and expanded in many cities of the state. The Prime Minister said that today emphasis is being laid on infrastructure in Maharashtra. Solar energy and textile parks are being promoted. In the interest of farmers, many types of initiatives have been taken for animal rearers. Efforts are being made to provide opportunities to the youth in the field of medicine. 10 new medical colleges of the state will fulfill the dreams of the youth of the state.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister took a jibe at his opponents and said that in the history of Maharashtra, development has never happened in different areas at such a fast pace and on such a large scale. The Prime Minister said that only a few days ago our government has given the status of elite language to Marathi language. When a language gets its glory, not just the words, but the entire generation gets new words. The decades-old dream of crores of Marathi people has been fulfilled. People of Maharashtra have celebrated it everywhere. During this period, Prime Minister Modi also strongly attacked the Congress party. He said that Congress tried its best to mislead farmers, Dalits and youth in Haryana but the public together has taught Congress a lesson. Modi also accused Congress of promoting casteism and communalism in the society. He said that the formula of Congress has always been to divide the society.
