Indian stock markets fall, Sensex closed with a difference of 167 points.

Earlier yesterday i.e. on October 8, the Sensex had closed at 81,634 with a gain of 584 points. Nifty also closed at 25,013, up 217 points. Meanwhile, BSE Small Cap closed at 55,439, up 1,322 points. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 19 rose and 11 declined. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 36 were up and 14 were down. The media sector saw the highest increase of 3.11%.

Investors gained Rs 3 lakh crore

Despite the huge fall in Sensex-Nifty at the end of today's trading session, an increase in the market cap of the Indian stock market has been seen. The market cap of BAE-listed shares closed at Rs 462.43 lakh crore, up from Rs 459.50 lakh crore in the previous session. That means there has been an increase of Rs 3 lakh crore in investors' wealth in today's session.
