Today, the Union Cabinet meeting was held in Delhi in which many ambitious schemes have received cabinet approval. In the meeting, the delivery of PM Garib Kalyan Yojana and other welfare schemes was extended till December 2028. Along with this, the cabinet has emphasized on the development of infrastructure in the areas of border states.

After the cabinet meeting, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that fortified rice will be supplied under PM Modi's Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PM-GKAY) and other welfare schemes, mid-day meal, free ration scheme, PM Nutrition Scheme, ICDS. Permission to continue the aspirant's plans from July 2024 to December 2028

Emphasis on development of infrastructure in border areas
In the meeting, PM Modi has emphasized on the development of infrastructure in the border areas. The Cabinet today approved construction of 2280 km of roads in the border states of Punjab and Rajasthan with an investment of Rs 4406 crore. The objective of this scheme is to increase the livelihood of the people living in rural areas and to make transportation easier for the people here. The second is to create connectivity with the highway network.

Approval for development of National Maritime Heritage Complex in Lothal
After the Union Cabinet meeting, the Union Minister said that the Union Cabinet has approved the development of the National Maritime Heritage Complex in Lothal. The National Maritime Heritage Complex project will be completed in two phases. Under Phase 1B, the Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships will be funded for the construction of a lighthouse museum. A separate society will be set up to develop future phases. It will be governed by a Governing Council under the chairmanship of the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. The first phase of the project is under implementation with more than 60 percent physical progress and is targeted for completion by 2025.
