Gwalior, March 9 (HS). As per the guidelines of Executive Chairman National Legal Services Authority New Delhi and Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority Jabalpur, the first National Lok Adalat of the year 2024 was organized on Saturday. National Lok Adalat was organized at District Court, Family Court, Labor Court, Railway Court and District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission at District Headquarters Gwalior. Besides, Lok Adalats were also organized in Civil Courts Dabra and Bhitarwar.
National Lok Adalat was formally inaugurated on Saturday at 10.30 am by District Judge Ashraf Ali under the guidance of Principal District Judge and Chairman District Legal Services Authority Gwalior PC Gupta by garlanding the statue of Mother Saraswati and lighting the lamp.
According to the information given by the District Legal Services Authority, the cases were resolved on the basis of mutual agreement by the 51 division benches constituted for the National Lok Adalat held in the district, through compromise in 5 thousand 953 cases and an amount of more than Rs 17 crore 24 lakh 14 thousand was disbursed. Awards were passed. 7 thousand 807 persons were benefited in the district through National Lok Adalat.
District Legal Aid Officer Deepak Sharma said that in the resolved cases, awards amounting to about Rs 11 crore 18 lakh 30 thousand 48 were passed in 1099 cases pending in the courts. Apart from this, an amount of more than Rs 6 crore 5 lakh 84 thousand was recovered through Lok Adalat in 4 thousand 987 litigation cases of bank, municipality and electricity. The resolved cases included 194 motor accident cases, 227 check bounce cases, 407 criminal cases, 49 matrimonial cases, 39 civil and 126 electrical cases. This time, 09 cases of District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission were resolved through National Lok Adalat. In which awards worth 72 lakh 32 thousand 430 were passed.
All the judges of the district headquarters, district legal aid officers, advocates, para legal volunteers, employees of the district court and district legal services authority etc. were present in the inauguration program of the National Lok Adalat. 400 saplings were also distributed, courtesy the Forest Department, in the form of Justice Trees to the parties getting the cases resolved in the National Lok Adalat.
