Controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik has sparked outrage on social media by making controversial remarks about the status of unmarried women on Pakistani soil.
In a video widely circulated on Twitter, Nayak claimed that an unmarried woman cannot get respect in the society. According to Nayak, if no unmarried man is available, such a woman will have to marry an already married man to gain respect or become “public property”.
Nayak said in the viral video, “An unmarried woman cannot be respected. So, they have two options. The first option is to marry someone who already has a wife or become a ‘market woman’.” Video that she will become a public property, I can't find better words than that any respectable woman would choose this option.”
