Imphal, 07 October (Hindustan Reporter). Amid the ongoing violent activities in Manipur, security forces have recovered a huge quantity of weapons and explosives from different places in Kakching and Thoubal districts bordering Myanmar.
Police said on Monday that security forces conducted search operations in border and sensitive areas of the hill and valley districts. During this time, one SMC carbine (with 3 rounds loaded magazine), one 9 mm pistol (with empty magazine), three .36 HE grenades, three tear smoke grenades, one 2 inch mortar (TNT), one Detonators, three misfired M-16 bullets, 11 empty cases (AK), three empty cases (303), two 12 bore cartridges, one Lethod empty case and one BP vest were recovered.
During another search operation, security forces recovered one SMG carbine and magazine, one SSBL, one .32 pistol and magazine, one INSAS LMG magazine, one 81 mm mortar shell, four 36 HE hand grenades, three detonator, 41 live ammunition, five green grenades 80 mm MK-1, two stringer grenades, seven tier smoke grenades, 11 tier smoke shells, two stun shells (normal), five .38 mm rubber bullets, one Baofeng hand set, A TYT radio set and a tool jacket were recovered.
Apart from these, during another search operation, security forces recovered three carbines with magazines, one air gun rifle, two single barrels, one 9 mm pistol with magazines, 14 36 HE grenades without detonator, from Wabagai Netekhong, Turenmei in Kakching district. One 51 mm mortar, two 2 MK-III grenades, one suspected container explosive IED weighing 4.755 kg, four detonators, six tier smoke shells, two anti-riot rubber bullets, one stinger cartridge, two tube launchers, three arming rings, 34 live Recovered ammunition, 25 explosive cartridges, 18 pieces of 7.62 mm fire case, 10 fire explosive cartridges, one Baofeng set with charger, one helmet, two BP covers, two BP plates (locally made) and a pair of jungle boots. Intensive operation by security forces is going on.
