The Asia Cricket Council (ACC) has announced that the Asia Cup will be held in India next year. Reports say that Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be the hosts for the upcoming ODI and T20 formats. After India, Bangladesh will host this tournament in 2027, which will be played in ODI format. After this, in T20 format, Pakistan will host this tournament in 2029, while in ODI format, Sri Lanka will host this tournament in 2031. The media rights of the Asia Cup will be auctioned for eight years from 2024 to 2031.
When will Asia Cup be played?
India will miss its two most experienced players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in this tournament. Since the tournament will be played in T20 format, both the players have retired. It is being said that this tournament can be organized in December 2025. According to the ACC, 13 matches will be played in each season of the Asian tournament.
India-Pakistan will clash three times in the tournament
As per the format of the tournament, there will be at least two fixed group-stage matches between India and Pakistan. If both the teams reach the finals then they can play in the tournament for the third time. India last played Pakistan twice in 2023.
Three women's tournaments will be held from 2024 to 2031
ACC has also said that three Women's Asia Cup tournaments will also be organized during this period. The ACC has set the base price for media rights at US$170 million. This will include global television, digital and audio rights to the 6 ACC Tournaments.
