Jaynagar Rape and Murder Case: West Bengal is shaken once again. A 10-year-old girl was raped and brutally murdered in Jaynagar in South Bengal's 24 Parganas district. After this incident, the angry mob set the local police post on fire. Therefore, vehicles were vandalized in the area and stones were pelted at the police. Local people allege that the police did not take immediate action in this matter. According to the police, one accused has been arrested.
According to police sources, the accused has confessed to his crime. After interrogating him, it was revealed that he had been feeding ice cream to the victim two days before the incident. He was trying to befriend her. On Friday, he took the girl to an unknown place on his bicycle. There he raped her. Later he was strangled to death. After this the accused fled from the spot.
At around 8 pm on Friday night, the family lodged a complaint that the girl had been kidnapped. In this case, the police detained the accused at around 2 pm on Saturday afternoon. He was then taken to the place where he murdered the victim girl and abandoned the body. According to senior officials, after the incident, angry villagers set fire to the police post and vandalized the vehicles present there.
According to the villagers, the victim girl was missing since Friday evening. Despite filing a complaint with the police, they did not take any action. On Saturday morning, local people found the body of the girl in Jayanagar area. After this, the angry mob set fire to Mahismari police post and pelted stones at the police. After this the police had to return from the spot. Later a large number of police forces were deployed.
Tear gas was used to calm the crowd. According to a claim by a local person, the girl's family had lodged an initial complaint at Mahismari police station. However, the police did not take immediate action after the complaint. It is being alleged that after the body of a female doctor was found in RGkar Hospital, the same reaction was given by the police this time too.
A police officer has said that the FIR was registered around 9 pm on Friday night. After initial investigation, an accused was arrested on Saturday. The investigation of the matter is going on. Also, the people who tried to set fire to the police post and destroy all the documents will be identified and a case will be registered against them.
