Saharsa, 05 October (Hindustan Reporter). The current status of the relief campaign implemented by the district administration in the flood affected areas within the district was reviewed under the chairmanship of Dilip Jaiswal, Minister of Land Reforms and Revenue and Minister in-charge, in the local Circuit House.
On the said occasion, District Magistrate Vaibhav Chaudhary informed that the relief campaign is being continuously implemented on a war footing with inter-departmental coordination in the affected areas. 32 panchayats in Navhatta/Mahishi/Salkhua/Simri Bakhtiyarpur/Banma Ithari, which are affected by floods, are being consolidated. A total of 189 community kitchens are currently being operated in the affected areas. Apart from this, community kitchens are operated in 49 Anganwadi centers of Mahishi and food arrangements have been made on mobile basis at 30 places through MDM in Navhatta.
DM said that about 165,000 people are being benefited every day through the operated community kitchen. The process of providing dry ration to the flood affected families who are unable to come to the community kitchen due to some reason, is being done continuously by the committed team of the district administration. This is going on. So far, 19062 food packets/dry rations have been distributed. Dry rations are being sent to the affected families through boats in remote/inaccessible areas. A total of 21892 polythene sheets have been distributed so far by the local administration. The distribution has been done. PHED has made 02 tankers operational for clean drinking water near the community kitchen, 65 temporary toilets/28 hand pumps and 02 water pumps have been arranged. The Minister in-charge has given instructions to further speed up the relief campaign being conducted. Minister PHED, MLA, and others concerned were present in the meeting.
