12 flood affected districts in Nepal declared disaster | News India

Kathmandu, 05 October (HS). Nepal government has declared disaster in 12 flood affected districts. The government made this announcement in the cabinet meeting held at Singhdarbar this morning. These districts will be rebuilt on priority basis. On the basis of the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority Executive Committee, the Cabinet has declared these districts as disaster affected for the next three months.

After the cabinet meeting, Home Minister Ramesh Kalakhar said that these districts include Taplejud, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, Kabre, Lalitpur, Solukhumbu, Dolakha, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Makwanpur, Sindhupalchok and Dhadid. He said that now all the powers for relief and reconstruction in these districts will remain with the Central Government. The state government and local government will have to work as per the decision of the central government.

It is noteworthy that on September 27 and 28, 250 people died due to floods and landslides accompanied by continuous rain. During this period 169 people were injured. According to the Home Ministry, 18 people are still missing. Many roads in the country are blocked due to floods.
