Mumbai: Dharmendra's wife and BJP MP Hema Malini has expressed grief over the fact that Dharmendra has not received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award yet. Hema has said that Dharmendra should have received this honor by now. Dharmendra fully deserves this honour.
It is noteworthy that the government has recently announced to honor Mithun Chakraborty with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Mithun is nowhere junior to Dharmendra. Apart from this, comparatively Dharmendra has given more successful and higher rated films than Mithun.
However, Hema also expressed happiness when Mithun Chakraborty received this honor and congratulated Mithun.
Dharmendra's fans have always complained that Dharmendra did not get the respect he deserved throughout his life. Dharmendra had been nominated for a Filmfare Award more than once before, but never received the award. When Dharmendra finally received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, while accepting the award Dharmendra expressed his regret that he never received the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
Even at the age of 88, Dharmendra is active in films and is seen in small and big roles.
