New Delhi, 4 October (Hindustan Reporter). Controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik's visit to Pakistan is in the headlines on social media these days. The Foreign Ministry has described the welcome given to fugitive Naik there as condemnable and disappointing and said that it is not surprising considering the actions of Pakistan.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in the weekly press conference on Friday that we have seen reports that Zakir Naik was warmly welcomed in Pakistan. It is no surprise to us that an Indian fugitive was given a grand welcome in Pakistan. This is disappointing and condemnable but not surprising.

Zakir Naik is a controversial Indian Islamic preacher. Due to his controversial statements and speeches, he has been accused of promoting terrorism and religious conversion. There are several cases registered against Zakir Naik in India, including allegations of financing terrorism, religious conversion and inciting religious sentiments.
