Bhopal, 03 October (HS). Anurag Jain, a 1989 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has become the 35th Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh. After returning from central deputation, he assumed his charge in the ministry on Thursday. After the completion of the tenure of retired Chief Secretary Veera Rana on September 30, the state government appointed him the Chief Secretary of the state on the basis of seniority.
Senior IAS Anurag Jain was earlier holding the post of Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on central deputation. He returned to Bhopal only on Wednesday. On Thursday, he reached the ministry and took charge. On reaching the Ministry, Chief Secretary Jain was welcomed by senior officials by presenting him a bunch of flowers.
Chief Secretary Jain was born on 11 August 1965 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. After joining the Indian Administrative Service, his first posting was in June 1990 as Assistant Collector in Sagar. Multitalented Jain's educational qualification is B.Tech. Engineering and M.A. Public Administration (USA). He held the post of Collector in Mandla, Mandsaur and Bhopal districts. He discharged the responsibilities of various departments in Madhya Pradesh Government as Secretary, Principal Secretary, and Additional Chief Secretary.
Chief Secretary Jain also held key positions in the Government of India on deputation. The state will benefit from his long stay at the Centre. There will be good coordination between the central and state governments. He will be able to keep the issue of Madhya Pradesh well in the centre.
