Lucknow, 03 October (HS). Under the Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy-2022, Ayodhya city is being developed as the first solar energy model city of the state. In this, 10 percent of the total electricity load of the city will be met through renewable energy. Besides, solar power plants are also being established in other 16 municipal corporations. At present, a budget provision of Rs 15.75 crore has been made for Solar City in Ayodhya city and Rs 40 crore for Solar City in other cities. In any city, the proposal for solar city program is received through the Municipal Commissioner and the work is done after the approval of the state level committee. These things were said by Energy Minister A.K. Sharma said.
He said that under the Ayodhya Solar City program in the financial year 2023-24, so far 766 numbers of smart solar street lights, 2300 solar street lights, 250 numbers of solar high masts, on-grid solar power plants of 3.33 MW capacity, off-grid solar of 50 KW capacity have been installed. The work of installation of power plant and 01 solar based cold storage of 06 metric capacity, 40 solar trees of 01 KW capacity, 18 solar trees of 2.5 KW capacity, 10 solar water kiosks has been completed. Also, from the point of view of tourism, 02 solar boats are being operated on the Saryu River. Apart from this, a 40 MW solar plant has been established on the banks of Saryu. The route has been illuminated by installing 487 smart solar street lights from Laxman Fort to Nirmali Kund on the 10.25 kilometer stretch on the banks of river Saryu in Ayodhya.
In the financial year 2024-25 also, the process of installation of 150 smart solar street lights, 1100 solar street lights and 75 solar high mast plants in Ayodhya city is in progress under the scheme. Similarly, in the financial year 2023-24, 1512 solar street lights and 200 smart solar street lights were installed in Varanasi Municipal Corporation area along with Ayodhya and other municipal corporations under the Solar City Scheme.
Similarly, under the Solar City Scheme, it is proposed to install 500 solar street lights, 100 solar high masts, 10 solar trees of 01 kilowatt capacity, 04 solar water kiosks and 200 smart solar street lights in the Varanasi Municipal Corporation area in the current financial year 2024-25. . It is proposed to install 200 solar street lights and 25 solar high masts in Jhansi Municipal Corporation area. It is proposed to install 600 solar street lights and 50 solar high masts in Agra Municipal Corporation area. It is proposed to install 90 solar high masts and 550 solar street lights in Aligarh Municipal Corporation area. It is proposed to establish 05 Solar Heritage High Mast, 02 Solar Tree, 05 Solar High Mast and 02 Solar Water Kiosks in Prayagraj Municipal Corporation area. It is proposed to install 30 smart solar street lights, 60 solar high masts and 800 solar street lights in Lucknow Municipal Corporation area. It is proposed to establish 20 solar heritage high masts, 310 solar high masts, 02 solar drinking water kiosks, 02 solar trees, 1000 solar street lights and 75 kW on-grid solar power plant in Kanpur Municipal Corporation area.
