Kolkata, 03 October (Hindustan Reporter). Health services in government hospitals of West Bengal remained affected for the third consecutive day. This is because junior doctors have gone on strike demanding justice for the post-graduate doctor who was the victim of rape and murder and safety during their work.

This is the second time that junior doctors in government hospitals of Bengal have gone on strike with their demands. Doctors took this step when the body of one of their colleagues was found at R.G. Hospital on August 9, 2024. Was found in hospital. After this, after 42 days of work stoppage, doctors resumed some essential services on September 21, 2024, after the government promised to fulfill most of their demands.

But, doctors say that the government has not yet fulfilled its promise, due to which they started the strike again from October 1.

The doctors allege that till now the government has not called them to discuss their demands. Dr. Aniket Mahato, who is leading the movement, said that the government has not yet discussed our demands.

Apart from this, the doctor is also angry with the slow pace of CBI investigating the case of rape and murder of his partner. He said in a statement issued on October 2 that the investigation was “very slow” and he was “disappointed” by it.

The doctors are demanding speedy justice for the deceased, along with the removal of the state health secretary and better police security at hospitals. Apart from this, they are demanding filling of vacant posts of doctors, nurses and health workers as soon as possible and implementing digital bed tracking system in hospitals.
