Carlos Alcaraz came back from a set down to defeat world number one Jannik Sinner and win the China Open ATP tennis tournament title for the first time in his career. Alcaraz won the final match 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). He has won his fourth title this year and 16th overall.
In the men's singles, Alcaraz, seeded a close second, won seven consecutive points after being down 3-0 in the final set tiebreaker. The final match was played for three hours and 21 minutes. With this, Sinner's streak of 14 consecutive wins also stopped. Italian player Sinner has been under pressure for some time due to doping allegations against him.
