Phillaur: After Shraddha, the bike of a couple returning after paying obeisance to Masya was hit by a car rider. After the collision, the husband-wife and their two-year-old child fell on the road. In the accident, the woman died on the spot while the child and her husband were seriously injured. The accident happened on Wednesday evening at around 4.15 pm. When information about the accident was given to Apara police of Phillaur police station, the injured were immediately taken to the civil hospital, where a two-year-old child also died during treatment.
The deceased include 26-year-old woman Soma and 2-year-old Gurpreet, while Vinod Kumar, the husband of the woman who was driving the bike, is seriously injured and is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Harjeet Singh, in-charge of police post Apara, said that the family is a resident of Ganna village near Phillaur. All three were returning to village Ganna with their heads bowed when an unknown vehicle hit them on Apara Road. After the collision the accused ran away. Injured Vinod Kumar told that the vehicle which hit him was a car but he does not remember its number. Harjeet Singh said that the family has been informed and a search has been started for the vehicle that caused the collision.
