Jalpaiguri, 29 September (HIST). Workers staged a violent protest at Grasmore Tea Garden in Nagarakatta on Wednesday demanding 16 per cent puja bonus. Hundreds of workers present there since morning surrounded the plantation manager and protested. Actually, the plantation management is giving ten percent bonus to the workers whereas the workers are adamant on the demand of 16 percent bonus.
Regarding this, the workers gathered in front of the factory in the morning, after which they surrounded the plantation manager Bhaskar Chakraborty and demonstrated. During this time, apart from 16 percent bonus, the workers also demanded their outstanding salaries. Along with temporary workers, permanent workers also joined the protest. Plantation Manager Bhaskar Chakraborty has assured to resolve the problem soon.
