Rs 2000 notes are circulating in the market: Even after a year and a half of RBI withdrawing Rs 2000 notes, Rs. Rs 2000 notes worth Rs 7117 crore are available. Last year, till 7th October 2023, Rs. Order was given to deposit Rs 2000 note. Since then, people are getting the facility to deposit the notes at 19 issue offices of RBI for the purpose of returning all the notes.
According to recently released RBI data, RBI has so far withdrawn 98 percent of Rs 2000 notes from the market. Other 2 percent i.e. Rs. Notes worth Rs 7117 crore are circulating in the market.
If you find a Rs 2000 note in your house during Diwali cleaning, you can deposit it at the post office apart from the 19 issue offices designated by the RBI. It is noteworthy that people with bank accounts can get a lump sum amount of Rs. ₹20000 note can be deposited. If they do not have a bank account, they can carry more than one ₹2000 note at a time.
The 19 issue offices of RBI include RBI in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.
