The conflict between Israel and Iran has created a war-like situation in the Middle East. The Israeli army has given an ultimatum to evacuate the people living in 24 villages in South Lebanon. The warning issued by Israel on Wednesday afternoon comes at a time when Israel has recently launched an operation near the border areas to eliminate the Hezbollah terrorist group.
The Israeli army is calling it a limited ground military operation. The 24 villages fall under the UN-declared buffer zone, which was established after the last war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006.
What did the Israeli army say?
The Israeli military also said infantry and armored units were taking part in a ground operation against Iran-backed Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
Attacks on Hezbollah will continue
An Israeli statement said it would continue attacks on Hezbollah until it is safe for Israelis displaced from border areas to return to their homes. Only after this happens will the ground military operation be completed. The Israeli military said in a statement that it had launched ground attacks on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.
