Sensex and Nifty continue to rise for the sixth consecutive quarter | News India

Ahmedabad: Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty have managed to grow by about 7 percent in the September quarter. This success was achieved despite the indices registering their biggest one-day fall in two months on Monday. This is the sixth consecutive quarter of gains in Indian stock markets and the longest such streak in the last three years.

Between June 2020 and September 2021, markets recorded six consecutive quarters of growth in the post-COVID-19 period, supported by stimulus measures from central banks around the world.

During the recent rally, Nifty has gained almost 50 per cent while Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Midcap 100 indices have more than doubled. However, broader markets underperformed largecaps during the recent quarter as investors shifted their focus to higher quality stocks.

Market capitalization of India by March 2023 to be Rs. 216 lakh crore and has become the fourth most valuable market globally after US, China and Japan.

Domestic equities' six consecutive quarters of gains have been supported by strong institutional inflows as foreign portfolio investors have infused Rs. An investment of Rs 2.95 lakh crore was made, while mutual funds invested Rs 2.95 lakh crore. An investment of Rs 3.85 lakh crore was made.
