Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Only some time is left for the Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, all the political parties are busy playing their chess. BJP has released its first list of 195 candidates. On Friday, Congress announced the first list of 39 candidates for the elections.
Former party president Rahul Gandhi will contest from Wayanad in Kerala for the second time, while party general secretary KC Venugopal has been fielded from Alappuzha in the state. Outgoing MP Shashi Tharoor will contest from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala for the fourth consecutive time. The former Union Minister has been winning from the Thiruvananthapuram seat since 2009.
The party has decided to field former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel from Rajnandgaon seat and former minister Tamradhwaj Sahu from Mahasamund, while Jyotsna Mahant will contest from Korba in Chhattisgarh. Whereas, Tamradhwaj Sahu will contest from Mahasamund (Chhattisgarh), Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Hibi Eden from Ernakulam (Kerala), DK Suresh from Bengaluru Rural (Karnataka).
The party's first list includes 15 general candidates and 24 SC-ST, OBC and minority category candidates. Apart from this, there are 12 candidates whose age is less than 50 years.
Let us tell you that BJP had announced the first list of 195 candidates last week. The BJP's list comes days after a marathon meeting of the party's Central Election Committee (CEC). It includes 34 Union Ministers and two former Chief Ministers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will once again contest elections from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and Home Minister Amit Shah from Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
