Ahmedabad: Female constable dies, lover dies after 5 days

Ahmedabad: A 29-year-old female constable working at Paldi police station committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Ahmedabad. Five days later, her 47-year-old boyfriend also committed suicide in a hotel room in the Ellisbridge area. Let us tell you here that the boyfriend of the female constable was accused of instigating her to commit suicide.

According to media reports, Jashu Rathod, boyfriend of deceased policeman Lalita Parmar, was found hanging in her room at Hotel Sargam on Tuesday. Jashun Rathod, a resident of Soldi village of Surendranagar, had gone to the hotel on March 3.

Giving information about the incident, Ellisbridge Police Inspector R. R. Gadhvi told that on the afternoon of March 4, a hotel employee knocked on the door of Jashu Rathod's room, but got no response. The hotel staff thought that Rathod had gone out. When she knocked on the door again on Tuesday afternoon and no one answered, she suspected something was wrong, after which she informed her colleague.

They then opened the door with the duplicate key and found Jashu Rathod hanging from the ceiling fan.

It is noteworthy that the police have registered a case of accidental death. On 29 February, Lalita Parmar's body was found hanging by her neighbour, who was working as a police constable in Vasna Police. Lalita Parmar had joined the city police only a month ago. During the investigation of the case, it was revealed that Jashu Rathod was continuously harassing Lalita Parmar and forcing her to leave the job.

Lalita Parmar refused to do so. Because, she was the only earning person in her family. Jashu Rathod used to make continuous video calls to keep an eye on him. Lalita Parmar and Jashu Rathod are residents of the same village and were in a relationship for 10 years. On Monday, Vasna police registered a complaint against Jashu Rathod for abetment of suicide and called him for questioning in the case. Investigators suspect that he may have killed himself out of fear of the law.
