Mumbai: The state's fourth women policy, which gives priority to the overall development of women in the state, has been implemented on the occasion of International Women's Day. Protection from domestic violence and participation of women in the environment sector are distinctive features of this policy. The implementation plan, progress index and responsibilities of various departments have been defined for this policy.
Women Development Minister Aditi Tatkare announced the implementation of the state's fourth women's policy at an event organized by the Women Economic Development Corporation and UN Women in Mumbai. Earlier the first policy was prepared in 1994. After that, the women's policy of the state has been announced every ten years. Efforts were being made for the last three years to formulate the fourth women's policy. Women Development Minister Aditi Tatkare gave priority to the formulation of this policy in the last one and a half years. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister by Ajit Pawar Suggested some improvements. This policy was approved by the cabinet in the winter session. The policies announced earlier have not been implemented properly. Therefore, the implementation of the fourth strategy is three-pronged. Accordingly, a high authority committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. After this, a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Women Development Minister and Parent Minister of each district. Therefore, every committee will have to give progress report. Appropriate provision will be made in the budget for this policy.
The policy includes eight points of women's health, nutrition, security, fitness, education skills, gender equality, administrative and political participation, disaster management and sports infrastructure.
This fourth policy of the state is in line with the changing times. Many changes have taken place in the last thirty years. Therefore, this policy has been prepared after studying the changing lifestyle and participation of women. Gender discrimination has been eliminated in this policy. A three-tier program has been prepared for the implementation of the policy. This was not done in the last three policies. This policy has been kept flexible in view of future changes.
