Coal production in the country has increased by 5.85 percent so far compared to the last financial year | News India

New Delhi, 01 October (Hindustan Reporter). Coal production in the country has reached 453.01 MT (provisional) in the current financial year 2024-25, compared to 427.97 MT during the same period in the financial year 2023-24, which shows an increase of 5.85 percent.

The Coal Ministry said in the data released on Tuesday that there has been a significant increase in coal production in the month of September of the current financial year 2024-25, which has increased to 68.94 million tonnes (MT). This figure of coal production is more than the production of 67.26 MT in the same month of the previous financial year, which shows a significant increase of 2.49 percent.

The ministry said in a statement that the total coal production in the current financial year 24-25 (up to September 30, 2024) has reached 453.01 MT (provisional), while the coal production during the same period in the last financial year 2023-24 was 427.97 MT. MT, which shows an increase of 5.85 percent. Coal dispatch has also seen a significant increase in September, which has increased by 4.35 percent in the current financial year to 73.37 MT as compared to 70.31 MT during the same period in the last financial year 2023-24.

According to the Coal Ministry, the total coal dispatch in the financial year 2024-25 (till September 30, 2024) has been 487.87 MT (provisional), whereas during the same period in the last financial year 2023-24 it was 462.27 MT, which is an increase of 5.54 percent. Shows growth. The increase in coal offtake has improved its stock position. The total coal stock in DCB as on September 29, 2024 has registered a significant increase to 33.46 MT (Provisional) as compared to 22.15 MT as on September 29, 2023, registering an increase of 51.07 per cent.

It is noteworthy that the Coal Ministry is making continuous efforts to boost the production of coal and bring the dispatch to the maximum level to meet the increasing energy demands of the country. The upward trend in both coal production and dispatch strengthens energy security. This is important for the Ministry to achieve self-sufficiency in coal supply.
