Ranchi, 30 September (HS). The court of Additional Justice Amit Shekhar has sentenced three accused of murdering Chanda Kumari for dowry to life imprisonment. The court on Monday sentenced Chanda's husband Dilip Kumar, mother-in-law Lalo Devi and sister-in-law Anita Kumari to life imprisonment. Along with this, the court has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the three culprits.
Chanda got married in the year 2019. Since her marriage, her in-laws were harassing her for dowry. Fed up with this, Chanda committed suicide by hanging herself in the year 2022. Before committing suicide, Chanda had blamed her husband and mother-in-law and other members of her in-laws for her death. After this, Chanda's mother Geeta Devi had registered case number 41/2022 against her in-laws in Khalari police station.
