The accused in the case of death of a constable due to car collision in Nangloi, police custody till October 3 | News India

New Delhi, 30 September (HIST). Delhi's Tis Hazari Court has sent Rajneesh alias Situ, accused in the case of death of a police constable after being hit and dragged by a car in Nangloi, to police custody till October 3. Judicial Magistrate Charu Asiwal gave this order.

After presenting Rajneesh in the court today, the police had demanded five days' custody. During the hearing, Delhi Police told the court that Rajneesh was sitting in the car in which the policeman was dragged and killed. The accused driving the car is absconding. Delhi Police said that after the incident, the accused had gone to Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh to meet his friend. Police are searching for the vehicle and driver. Delhi Police said that the accused is to be taken to Jhajjar in Haryana and Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh for investigation.

During the hearing, advocate Ashutosh Bhardwaj, appearing for the accused, opposed the demand for police custody and said that the accused was not driving the vehicle. The accused had no criminal intention. Bhardwaj opposed the accused's demand for five days judicial custody. He said that the accused's elder brother Akashdeep has also been arrested. On this the police said that Akashdeep was interrogated and released. The court told the lawyer of the accused that if policemen are killed in the line of duty then law and order will not be saved.

It is noteworthy that on the morning of September 29, in Nangloi, a speeding car dragged Delhi Police constable Sandeep for about ten meters and after that the accused ran away. Actually, Sandeep was on his duty in plain clothes and he saw that a car was being driven carelessly at a very high speed. Sandeep asked the driver to drive the car properly and moved ahead. After this, the car came from behind at high speed and hit Sandeep's bike. The car dragged Sandeep for about ten meters. During this time he collided with another car. The badly injured constable was taken to the nearby Sonia Hospital but considering his critical condition, he was admitted to Balaji Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
