Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.) said these things at the closing ceremony of the Kick Boxing competition organized by the Kick Boxing Federation of India at the Parade Ground on Monday. Punjab team became the winner in the senior category in the championship. West Bengal stood second and Delhi stood third. In the junior group, Uttar Pradesh was the winner and Delhi was the runner-up and the team of Maharashtra stood third. In Sub Junior, Delhi was the winner, Goa team was the runner-up and Maharashtra team was at the third position. More than 500 players and support staff from 18 states participated in this competition that lasted for four days.
On this occasion, the Governor while presenting trophies to the winners of the competition said that sports have great importance in our lives, it helps in building the personality of the youth. This game is also very important for the self-defense of girls. He also expressed happiness over the participation of girls. He said that such events inspire the youth towards sports and keep them away from bad habits and drugs. The Governor extended his best wishes to the players for their excellent performance in the World Kick Boxing Competition to be held in Spain in November 2024.
