70th National Film Awards Ceremony: Legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty will be honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to Indian cinema. He will be presented this award at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on 8 October 2024. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced that Mithun Chakraborty has been honored with this award.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told on his X account that Mithun da's journey from the streets of Kolkata to the pinnacle of the world of cinema has inspired every generation. I am honored to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to honor Mithun Chakraborty for his significant contribution to Indian cinema. Mithun gave memorable performances in films like Disco Dancer, Agneepath.

Received National Award for the very first film

Mithun's journey in the film industry has been inspiring. He has entertained fans by giving many superhit films in his career. Kolkata-born Mithun Chakraborty is an actor, producer and politician. He has acted in more than 350 films. He has worked in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Bhojpuri, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi films. Started his acting career in the year 1977 with the film Mrigaya. He also received the National Award for Best Actor for his debut film.

Mithun's brilliant career

In the beginning of his career, he was seen in small roles. Mithun played small roles in the films 'Do Anjaan', 'Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan'. Then the low budget film 'Suraksha' released in 1979 helped him gain fame. The film 'Prem Vivah' also played an important role in furthering his career.
