Mithun Chakraborty received Dadasaheb Phalke Award
Mithun Chakraborty is being honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, one of the country's highest honours. The Union Minister has announced this through a post on social media platform X on the morning of 30 September. The minister wrote in a tweet, “Mithun da's amazing cinematic journey honors many generations.”
Ashwini Vaishnav further wrote, “I am proud to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Committee has decided to honor the legendary actor Shri Mithun Chakraborty at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony for his contribution to Indian cinema.” Hosted on 28 October 2024.

Born on 16 June 1950 in Kolkata, Mithun Chakraborty started his film career at the age of 24 with the film Mrigaya. Mithun received a lot of praise for playing the character of Ghinua and had also won the National Award earlier.
