Sago: For your information, let us tell you that sago is not made from any grain. The sago eaten during fasting is made from the pulp of a branch of a tree called sago palm. The trunk of this East African tree becomes thick. The central part of this stem is ground and made into powder. Only when this powder is filtered and heated properly, soap grains are formed from it. Let us tell you that the sago tree is like a palm tree.
How is soap made?
Are you still unaware of how soap is made in India? Sago is made from tapioca starch and a tuber called cassava is used to make this starch. Cassava is similar to sweet potatoes. The pulp is taken out and kept in big vessels for 8 to 10 days and then water is added daily. This process is repeated for 4 to 6 months.
How is the final product made?
When these peels are taken out from the utensils and put into the machine, soap grains are formed. After drying the soap grains coming out of the machine, glucose and starch powder are polished. Soap grains available in the market are prepared by this process. Nutrients like carbohydrates, calcium, vitamin C are found in good quantity in sago.
