Jaipur, March 8 (HS). Mahashivratri, the festival of worship of Bhole Baba, was celebrated with devotion on Friday in conjunction with Shukra Pradosh and special yoga. The chants of Har Har Mahadev and Om Namah Shivay continued throughout the day in Shiva temples across the city. Devotees anointed Baba with milk and water in the Shivalayas from morning till late evening. Long queues of devotees remained outside the main Shiva temples.
In the morning, the devotees along with their families reached the Shiva temples on an empty stomach to offer prayers to Lord Bholenath. Anointed with water mixed with milk and applied with sandalwood. After offering honey, sugar, Bilva leaves, carrot, sogri, plum, Aak-Dhatura fruits and other materials, Shiv Sahastranam and Shiv Chalisa were recited.
On Mahashivratri, due to the combination of Shivayoga, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, Shravan Yoga, Ghanishtha Nakshatra and other yogas, there was a huge crowd of devotees in every Shivalaya of Chhotikashi.
Devotees started standing in queues before sunrise in the morning at Tadkeshwar Mahadev Temple on Chaura Rasta. Due to non-opening of Ekalingeshwar Shiva temple situated on Motidungari hill, most of the devotees going there reached Tadkeshwar temple. Vikrant Vyas, priest of Tadkeshwar Mahadev Temple, said that devotees were given entry through lines. Arrangements for Ramsagar and Ganga water were made by the temple. In the evening, Bholenath was beautifully decorated. The night was spent with bhajans.
Devotees were given entry through two lines in Jharkhand Mahadev Temple located in Vaishali Nagar. The line of devotees reached Queens Road. The devotees standing in queues kept the atmosphere devotional with cheers and hymns. Temple Trust President Jaipprakash Somani said that devotees were given entry from 4.30 am for the consecration which continued till early morning. In the evening Baba was decorated with foreign flowers.
Special worship of Mahadev Ji was done in the presence of Mahant Anjan Kumar Goswami at the Kala Mahadev Ji Temple located on Amer Road, Kanak Valley, in the Govind Devji Temple area. A large number of devotees anointed Bholenath and worshiped him.
Special rituals were performed along with the worship of Char Prahar in temples including Jangeleshwar Mahadev of Banipark, Bhuteshwar Mahadev of Vidyadhar Nagar, Rojgareshwar Mahadev of Chhoti Chaupar, Aundha Mahadev of Ramganj and other Shiva temples.
Sadashiv Dwadash Jyotirlinga was consecrated with pilgrimage water.
Mahashivratri festival was celebrated with great pomp in Shri Geeta Gayatri Ji Sadashiv Dwadash Jyotirlinga Temple located at Galata Gate. In which hundreds of devotees anointed Baba. The festival of Shivratri was celebrated in the presence of Pt. Rajkumar Chaturvedi. Temple spokesperson Nitish Chaitanya Chaturvedi said that Bholenath was worshiped for four hours. In every Prahar, Sadashiv Jyotirlinga was anointed with various juices and holy water. Devotees recited Shiva Chalisa along with Shiva Kavach and Shiva Sahasranamavali after the Abhishek.
Havan-puja after satsang
On the holy festival of Mahashivratri, a satsang program was organized at 7 am in the Amrapureshwar Mahadav Temple located at MI Road, Amrapur. After this, a program of Havan and flag hoisting was organized. Tableau of Lord Bholenath, Satguru Swami Teunram was decorated. BD Tekwani told that Bhandara Prasad was also organized.
Organization of Rashtra Jagran Deep Yagya in front of South facing Hanuman ji.
On Mahashivratri, Rashtra Jagran Deep Yagya was organized by Kardhani Gayatri Mahila Mandal in front of South facing Hanuman ji located at Kalwad Road, Jhotwara. Panchopachar puja was performed by lighting lamps in front of the pictures of Vedamata Gayatri and Guru Satta. A large number of women brought five lamps each from their homes. After the puja, fire was lit and offerings were made to Akshat with the wish for world peace.
While performing the Yagya on this occasion, Director of Gayatri Mahila Mandal, Kusumalata Singhal said that when the lamp is lit and mantras are chanted, an electro-magnetic field is created around the lamp. Due to the vibrations of the mantra, malice and hatred are transformed into love, harmony and cooperation. This brings immense peace. By lighting a lamp for God, our feelings reach God. The sages knew this fact and hence they started the tradition of lighting lamps.
Pushkar Raj consecrated Anandeshwar Mahadev with water
On Mahashivratri, Anandeshwar Mahadev Ji located in Hanuman Temple of Shri Khole was consecrated along with Har Har Mahadev from the holy lake of Tirtharaj Pushkar. Kavad Yatra via Ajmer Road in MI in the afternoon. Reached Chamber Bhawan located on the road. After resting here in the evening, Kavad Yatra with Lavajmen reached Hanuman Temple of Shri Khole via Sanganeri Gate, Johri Bazaar, Hawa Mahal, Subhash Chowk, Basbadanpura in the night. In the night itself, Anandeshwar Mahadev was worshiped with Jalabhishek of Pushkar lake water along with chanting of mantras. On reaching the temple of the 40th Kavad Padyatra, Shri Narvar Ashram Seva Samiti President Girdhari Lal Sharma and General Secretary Brijmohan Sharma welcomed the Kavadyatris by showering flowers.
Thakur ji wore new clothes on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
On the holy festival of Mahashivratri, Thakur Shri Govind Dev Ji was made to wear new Baghambari dress in the adorable Dev Govind Devji temple of Jaipur. The temple courtyard was adorned with special ornaments and decorated with flowers. After which the tableau of Chhappan Bhog was decorated. Shiva's wedding service was performed in Rachna tableau.
Panchamrit Abhishek, Bhog and dress service was done in the presence of Mahant Anjan Kumar Goswami. Among these, the temple Shri Gopeshwar Mahadev. Temple Shri Kala Mahadev Ji, Kanak Valley. Temple Shri Bhura Mahadev Ji Kanak Valley is the main one.
Shri Galta ji echoed with the cheers of Bholenath.
The festival of Maha Shivratri was celebrated with great pomp on Friday in the presence of Peethadhishwar Swami Awadheshacharya Maharaj at Uttar Todadri Shri Galta Ji, the main Shri Vaishnav Peeth of North India.
On this occasion, lakhs of devotees reached Shri Galta ji and the visiting devotees worshiped Shiv Baba by anointing him in the Shiva temples.
Swami Raghavendra, Yuvacharya of Shri Galta Peeth said that lakhs of devotees including the entire Sindhi community of Jaipur city gathered at Shri Galta Ji on the festival of Mahashivratri. A flood of faith was seen in the fair organized every year under the guidance of Swami Awadheshcharya Maharaj. Devotees reached Shri Galata ji by road and valley route. Religious functions like Yagya, rituals, Sahastraghat, Abhishek etc. were performed under the guidance of Galata Peethadhishwar Avadheshacharya Maharaj.

Shiv Darbar decorated by Jeevandas Raotani Trust.
On Mahashivratri, on behalf of Jeevandas Ravatani Memorial Trust, a Shiv Darbar and devotional music program was organized in the presence of Galta Peethadhishwar Swami Awadheshacharya Maharaj amidst the hills at Shri Galta Ji Teerth, the court of the tall statue of Lord Bholenath was decorated. Maha Aarti was performed by Galata Peethadhishwar Swami Avadheshacharya Maharaj.
Flower tableau, Thandai distribution organized
Komal Chand Jain, Samriddhi Jain and Neha Jain beautifully decorated the Lord with flowers in the Shivalaya located at Shri Galta Peeth.
Thandai made from 100 kg of milk was distributed to the Lord by Arun Srivastava and Siddharth Srivastava as offering to the Lord. The Lord was beautifully decorated in the Shiva temples located at Shri Galta Ji.
Ekalingeshwar Mahadev Temple not opened
Eklingeshwar Mahadev Temple located in Moti Dungri, which opens once a year on the day of Shivratri, remained closed for the general public for the fourth consecutive year. Due to this thousands of Shiva devotees had to face great disappointment. The devotees who came in the hope of darshan had to return after being cheated from below.

Long queues of devotees were also seen at Rajarajeshwari Shiv Temple located at City Palace. Abhishekam was done with Ganga water brought from Haridwar at Sadashiv Jyotirlingeshwar Temple located on Delhi Road. Special events were also organized at Pratapeshwar Mahadev Temple located at Chandni Chowk of Devasthan Department and Jageteshwar Mahadev Temple located at Haldiyon Ka Rasta.
