Two containers full of liquor going to West Bengal caught in Tohana, two drivers arrested | News India

Fatehabad, 28 September (HIST). Two containers full of liquor going from Punjab to West Bengal have been caught. Both the containers were going away from their scheduled route. On this, the Excise Department team caught them and registered a case against both the drivers under the Excise Act.

In the complaint given to the police on Saturday, Excise Department Inspector Surendra Kumar said that when he was on patrol with his team, he received information that two containers filled with liquor were coming from Moonak in Punjab. On this his team reached the block set up on Moonak Road, Tohana, where both the containers were standing. During interrogation, container drivers Ankur Yadav resident of Kanpur and Kamal Singh resident of Etah, UP told that both the containers were going to West Bengal after loading liquor from Moonak Liquor Factory.

After checking the documents, the team of the department found that according to the transit slip issued by the Excise Department, Haryana, the route of these two containers was to go from Moonak via Jind, but both the containers were going through Tohana, different from the fixed route. When the team checked the containers, 400 boxes of English liquor were found in one container, 320 boxes of English liquor bottles, 15 boxes of half-and-half and 55 boxes of pavva were recovered in the other container. On this, the police have registered a case against both the container drivers under the Excise Act.
