Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said this while inaugurating the Dastak campaign regarding safe building construction under Samarth-2024. While launching the pamphlet of Dastak campaign on Saturday, the Deputy Commissioner stressed on safe building construction.
He said that under this campaign, the District Disaster Management Authority will knock door to door till October 13 to make people aware about safe building construction. He said that our area is very sensitive to earthquakes and other natural disasters. We should not forget that earthquakes do not kill, but buildings do. Considering all these things, safe and strong construction becomes very important. It is also important to keep in mind that if the selection of the place of our construction is appropriate and the basic rules are taken care of in the construction, then we can reduce the losses caused by disasters extensively.
He said that it is important to pay attention to some things for the construction of a house, such as while selecting the land for building a house, try to keep it away from rivers, drains, steep hills and also do not choose such land which has high amount of water. yes. Get the soil tested before building a house to make sure it is stable and safe. He said that as far as possible, it is necessary to take advice from a skilled engineer while building a house. If you are not able to get advice from an engineer, then try to get the house constructed by a trained mechanic only. Trained mechanics can help you build a safe and sound construction.
He said that to facilitate the construction of safe buildings for the general public, the District Disaster Management Authority is training 5-5 mechanics from every Panchayat. Such interested people can get their details from the office of their nearest Block Development Officer and take their help in constructing a safe building. He said that safety standards should be followed during construction.
