Sonipat: Explosion in illegal firecracker factory, three killed and seven injured | News India

Sonipat, 28 September (HS). Three people died and seven others were injured in a massive explosion after a fire broke out in an illegally running firecracker factory in Ridhau village of the district. The dead also include a woman and a child. This accident is said to be due to leakage in the gas cylinder. On receiving information about the incident, senior police and administrative officials reached the spot. The injured were admitted to the hospital. Later the injured were referred to Rohtak PGI. There is a possibility that some people may be buried under the debris of the house. Police is engaged in relief work.

According to local people, at around 9.30 am on Saturday morning, a house in Ridhau village caught fire due to leaking gas cylinder and then there was a massive explosion. The house was turned into debris with the explosion. Hearing the sound of the explosion, the villagers reached the spot and took out the injured. Three people died in this accident. The dead include a woman and a child. The deceased could not be identified till the time of writing the news. The bodies of a woman and a child were taken out in badly burnt condition. Farman (26), his wife Yashmeen (23), Eqra (22), Sidra (18), Asra (21), Aashi (28) and others got burnt in this accident.

Anjali (27) has been referred to Rohtak PGI.

On receiving information about the incident, SDM Shweta Suhag and police ACP Jeet Singh Beniwal and many other officers reached the spot. The forensic team is also engaged in the investigation. Police are trying to trace the owner of the factory. Regarding the incident, the villagers say that they were not aware of firecrackers being made in this house. The intensity of the blast was so high that cracks appeared in the walls of nearby houses. According to the villagers, there is a possibility that one or two people may be buried under the debris. Police and local people are busy removing the debris.
