Gujarati Dal Dhokli Ingredients
- ½ cup urad dal
- 1 tbsp peanuts
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup wheat flour
- 1 spoon gram flour
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric
- ½ tsp red chilli powder
- a pinch of asafoetida
- try pinching
- salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon oil
- For Dhokli – Red chilli powder
- chopped tomatoes
- 1 green chilli chopped
- ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon jaggery
- salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped coriander
- For tadka – 1 tbsp oil
- rye
- Cumin
- 6-7 fenugreek seeds
- 1 clove
- cinnamon
- 1 dry red chilli
- 5-6 sweet potato leaves
- a small pinch of asafoetida
How to make Gujarati Dal Dhokli
- Wash the lentils and soak them in water for 20 minutes.
- Add lentils and a cup of water to the pressure cooker.
- -Tie the peanuts in a muslin cloth and then put it in the pressure cooker. You can keep peanut pods in a steel bowl.
- – Cover the lid and let it cook for 6-7 whistles.
- After this, add wheat flour, all the spices in a bowl, sprinkle some oil and knead the dough.
- Keep the dough aside for 15 minutes.
- -Make dough and roll it into roti. Then cut it into small pieces.
- – Now open the pressure cooker and take out the peanuts. Keep the peanuts aside.
- Add 2 cups of water to the dal and mix.
- – Now add chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, ginger paste, green chilli, tomato.
- Add jaggery, mix and let it cook on low flame.
- Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, bay leaves, cinnamon and cloves in a pan.
- – Mix peanuts and lemon juice in it.
- – Boil the dal once again and add bread pieces (Dhokali) to it. Let it cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Apply some ghee on Dal Dhokli and serve.
