Kathua, 27 September (Hindustan Reporter). As part of the ongoing SVEEP campaign aimed at raising awareness about the upcoming Assembly elections, District Sweep Cell Kathua in collaboration with District Information and Public Relations Office organized a series of street plays in Kathua city.
The performances took place at two prominent venues Mukherjee Chowk and Jarai Chowk where the talented artists of New Sargam Social and Culture Club Samba enthralled the huge crowd with their theme-based street plays, Dogri songs and entertaining mimicry. These events witnessed enthusiastic participation from the public including commuters, business owners and shopkeepers. The series of programs started at Mukherjee Chowk, one of the busiest areas of Kathua city. Through their engaging performance, the artists emphasized the importance of voting and highlighted the power of each vote in shaping government and democratic processes. Street drama also addressed the harmful practices of exchanging money or favors in exchange for votes, using satire and imitations of popular Bollywood actors to spread the message. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the performance as a reminder of the important role of responsible voting. The SVEEP campaign focuses on increasing voter participation and ensuring a free and fair electoral process.
